Set along the northern coast of Zealand, Coastal Residence is a full interior project by BRANDT Copenhagen - a home shaped through a careful dialogue between material, proportion, craftsmanship and atmosphere.
Located in Hornbæk, Denmark, the residence was designed as a place of retreat: close to the sea, connected to the changing light, and rooted in a quiet yet refined approach to coastal living. Rather than creating a traditional summer house, the ambition was to compose a deeply considered home where every surface, object and detail would feel intentional, tactile and enduring.
Led by Julie Brandt, founder of BRANDT Copenhagen, the project reflects a highly personal and precise approach to interior design. From the earliest spatial considerations to the final styling, each decision was guided by a desire to create continuity - between rooms, materials, functions and moods. The result is a complete interior vision where architecture, furniture, lighting, hardware and objects are all part of the same composed language.
For this home, BRANDT Copenhagen developed the full interior concept - from the spatial flow, material palette and colour direction to the bespoke kitchen, wardrobes, cabinetry, furniture, textiles and final detailing. All bespoke elements were designed, produced and delivered by BRANDT Copenhagen, allowing the home to unfold as one coherent interior rather than a collection of separate rooms.
The kitchen was designed as the heart of the home - a warm and functional gathering space where bespoke cabinetry, natural materials and BRANDT Copenhagen hardware come together in one composed expression.

Warm oak, natural stone, soft textiles and carefully selected finishes form the foundation of the material palette. The tones were chosen to respond to the surrounding landscape - the sand, grasses, changing sky and soft coastal light - whilst still creating a sense of depth, warmth and permanence inside the home. The palette is restrained, but never flat; each material was selected for its texture, tactility and ability to age with character over time.
A central part of the process was the development of surfaces and finishes. Stains, tones and textures were considered with great attention, often refined through samples until the right balance was found - the oak warm but not yellow, the textiles soft but structured, the stone natural but composed.

Throughout the residence, bespoke joinery plays a defining role. The kitchen, wardrobes, storage solutions and cabinetry were designed as architectural elements within the home, creating rhythm, function and visual calm. Rather than standing apart, the built-in elements are integrated into the spatial experience, allowing the rooms to feel generous, practical and quietly refined.

The bedroom carries a softer and more intimate tone, with layered textiles, natural textures and understated detailing.
Furniture and objects were selected and designed with the same sensibility. Bespoke pieces sit alongside elements from the BRANDT Copenhagen collections, including hardware, lighting and accessories. These details act as functional touchpoints throughout the home - the handles, lamps and objects that are touched and used every day - bringing tactility, craftsmanship and a sense of intimacy into the interior.

The project is also a full expression of the BRANDT Copenhagen universe. Cabinetry, furniture, hardware, lighting, accessories and styling come together in one cohesive setting, showing how the studio's interior work and product collections can exist as part of a complete architectural whole. Every detail has been considered not as decoration, but as part of the home's overall composition.

The interiors are calm, but not anonymous. Each room carries its own atmosphere: the open kitchen and dining area as the natural gathering point of the house; the living room as a soft and grounded space for retreat; the hallway as a quiet sequence of light, timber and framed views; the bedroom as a more intimate and tactile expression. Together, the rooms form a continuous rhythm, tied together by material consistency, proportion and a shared sense of restraint.
