HOW TO CARE OF BRASS

Brass is a timeless blend of elegance and strength—an alloy of copper and zinc that has been cherished for centuries for its warm, golden hue. With its subtle shine and rich character, brass brings a sense of sophistication and vintage charm to any interior. At Brandt Copenhagen, we value brass not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its durability and versatility. Whether it’s a refined detail on hardware or the bold frame of a mirror, brass makes every piece feel intentional, enduring, and beautifully crafted.
HOW TO CARE OF BRASS
At Brandt Copenhagen, we work with various types of brass, each with its own unique character and finish. Burnished brass features a durable, matte brown coating that protects the surface and requires only gentle cleaning with a damp cloth. Antique brass and satin brushed brass are both unlacquered and will naturally develop a patina over time. These finishes should also be cleaned only with mild products and soft cloths. Polished brass has a mirror-like finish and is also unlacquered— it can be allowed to patinate gracefully or maintained with a high-quality brass polish to preserve its shine. Across all finishes, abrasive sponges and harsh cleaners should be avoided to protect the surface.
