A curated space for the details we touch every day
Hardware is everywhere in the home. We reach for a handle, pull a knob and open a drawer dozens of times a day, usually without noticing. That everyday repetition is what REPETITIONS was about.
For 3daysofdesign we turned the Chevron showroom in Copenhagen into a curated space, built around four hardware collections designed with Norm Architects: LEAF, TERRACE, BUTTON and CARVE. The pieces weren't hung up as products on a wall. They were arranged in series across bespoke furniture, and each arrangement was composed for how it would read in the room: material set against material, light against shadow, form against function. Taking ordinary objects out of daily use and staging them this way made them extraordinary.

Christian M. Andersen staged the exhibition together with Norm Architects. In his serial configurations a single handle became a pattern and a pattern became architecture. Visitors were invited to slow down and look again at what we normally pass by: the beauty, the function and the quiet symbolism of the objects that shape our spaces.

The Collections

LEAF
Blade-like handles with a minimal material thickness. A delicate, organic curve rises from a solid, dense base, and light catches along the thin edges. The design is about the intimate meeting between hand and object.

TERRACE
Topographical objects drawing on classical architecture, from ancient Roman staircases and archways to Art Deco. Recessed levels draw the eye toward the core of each piece, and the rhythm of light and shadow shifts through the day.

BUTTON
Nostalgic and soft to the touch, inspired by traditional apparel. Gentle curves and subtle textures are made to gain patina with use, so the piece shows the life lived around it.

CARVE
A chiselled, hand-worked surface inspired by traditional Japanese woodworking, translated to a smaller scale and a new material. The rugged, tactile finish changes noticeably as time passes and the light shifts, so each piece reads as a small sculpture.
Two Danish studios, one shared attitude

The collaboration between BRANDT Copenhagen and Norm Architects started from a shared belief that hardware works as small pieces of functional jewellery for the interior. REPETITIONS brought that idea into a room. The collections were made to be understood the way they will be lived with, in context, in series and by touch.
